Arts Fest 2009, May 9 Stan and Myra Allen, co-chairs. The inaugural year established Arts Fest as a major annual event sponsored and managed by the WVAL. The Fest was inspired by Art Walk, a project of the Wimberley Merchants Association in past years.
In 2009: - Two festive exhibit pavilions were built by volunteers. - The first Poster Artwork Competition was held. - A logo was designed for the Arts Fest. - 47 artists displayed art in all media in tents and pavilions. - Lively bands played all day on a coffee house porch. - Despite record heat, a large, enthusiastic turnout celebrated the day...and Arts Fest was hailed as a community asset.

Arts Fest 2010, April 24 Julie Ray and Deborah Elliott, co-chairs. This was a year of major expansion, as the theme “Arts with an S” added theater and classical music to the mix.
In 2010: - Headliners John Dee, Kevin Welch and Billy Crockett brought their renowned talents to a stage in the Wimberley Café's new landscaped garden. -The Starlight Symphony Orchestra and Wimberley Players earned bravos! - Children’s creative art activities pleased families. - A classic car exhibit provided "the art of the car." -The Square was closed to cars -Local non-profits volunteered help all day and attendance was estimated at 3,000.

Arts Fest 2011. April 28 Ian Green, chair; Gina Casarez and Kaye Collins, vice-chairs. With a vision of "bigger and better every year," the Fest initiated a jury process for artists this year. 68 artists exhibited, with many late applicants on a waiting list.
In 2011: - Jill Carver, a nationally prominent Austin artist served as the Fest’s first “guest artist.” - The art of dance was introduced with a stunning performance by Ballet Folklorico from St. Edward’s University. - Acclaimed headliners Ponty Bone and the Squeezetones and singer-songwriter Butch Hancock and Friends wowed the crowd. - Attendees estimated at “half again as many as 2010" bought more art than ever.
